Countless hours are lost because we find it hard to track the location of files on our computers. It's beneficial to ensure your workspace is configured to enhance your performance.
I learned 9 years ago from my Mentor how to manage my files and ensure peak performance during tight schedules. This simple practice at the surface may seem to consume time you assume you can use to deliver on your tasks faster, but the long-term benefits are immense.
Create a Master Folder labelled Projects. Place this folder in your documents folder for easy access.
Add folders named after the client whose projects will be executed.
Within the Client's folder, create additional sub-folders that represent the file formats you have created or collated for their Project
If you design different projects for your clients, you may need to create folders labelled after the Project Names and creating the file-format folders within each Project Folder.
Rinse and Repeat
Following this routine will help your locate your project files quickly and easily. In the years to come you will see how your ability to locate your files in record time will be enhanced.
